J Lo's Inasal Bacolod City (Malolos,Bulacan)

Image
We were looking for a place to eat, and we passed by J Lo's on the Malolos-Plaridel Road in Bulacan. J Lo's has several branches already. They also have branches in Makati, Quezon City and Cavite. We ordered Kilawin Tanigue, Kansi and of course Chicken Inasal. Chicken Inasal - their Chicken Inasal is okay. Just okay. it is not as tasty and juicy as the one being sold at Bacolod Chicken House Express, but far better than Mang Inasal's. Kansi - the Kansi is good, but needs more sour flavor. Their version has a lot of vegetables added. Kilawin Tanigue - Very good Kilawin. Just the right amount of spiciness. Loaded with Onions!

La Familia Restaurant (Baliuag, Bulacan)

Image
We just had lunch at La Familia Restaurant in Baliuag, Bulacan. This restaurant was recently featured in the Inquirer so we decided to give it a try. The La Familia Restaurant is located along the Dona Remedios Trinidad Highway in Baliuag. They are located just after the end of the overpass. It is a Turo-Turo Type of Restaurant. For the KareKare, we waited for 30 Minutes. We ordered the adobong pusit, kaldereta, inihaw na bulik (?) And kare kare. Adobong Pusit - the squid was very tender. Their version of this dish is on the sweet side, this must be how they cook it in Bulacan. Nonetheless, it was good for me. Kalderetang Baka - beef was very tender. Their version probably uses more liver paste / spread than tomato sauce. Their Kaldereta is very good! The sauce alone is very good. Though a different kind from what I am used to, I like their version. Inihaw na Bulik - I do not know if this is the correct name of the fish. The fish was grilled, garlic was sprinkled on top. Old Houses of Bustos Bulacan

Image
When we passed by Bustos 5-6 years ago, we passed by Old Stone Houses which had intricate stone work. I had no interest yet for Old Houses then so I did not bother taking a picture. 2 weeks ago, on the way to Cabanatuan, I asked M that we pass by Bustos so that I can take a picture of the Stone Houses we saw before. I never got to see the houses as it was probably another road we took then. Just this morning, on our way to Baliuag. I was able to see 2 of the stone houses. But the other houses were gone, the ones with the more intricate carvings I could not find anymore. Detail of the StoneWork found on one of the Bustos House Still, to see the 2 houses still standing gave me again a glimpse of a bygone era, forever etched in memory. "Sent via BlackBerry from Smart"
