Savory Restaurant Escolta, Manila

Savory Restaurant has been in existence since 1950. There are already other branches. But the Escolta branch is what we tried.

I always passed by this Savory Branch everytime i went to Escolta. It is just after the bridge so it is impossible to miss.

Upon entering the Restaurant you would immediately notice that it has probably not been upgraded / updated / remodelled / renovated or whatever since the 1960's or 1970's. It has that sticky feel to it too. Plus the smell is Old Smelling. Service was slow too, as nobody approached us with the menu. We had to get their attention for it.

We ordered the Savory Chicken, Brocolli Dish, Fish Fillet with White Sauce, Bird's Nest Soup and Fried Rice.

First to be served was the Bird's Nest Soup. It was of average quality, it had even had some shell pieces, i do not know if this was crab shell or egg shell. The Savory Chicken was anything but Savory, it was not tasty or juicy like the last Savory Chicken I tasted (bought from their Shaw Blvd Branch). The Brocolli was okay, atleast the Brocolli used was fresh. The Fish Fillet i did not get to taste anymore, but a fellow eater said that it was not good.

I will definitely not eat at this branch of Savory anymore. It is better to try their other branches which are newer.

  1. Tried Bird Nest soup last year from like www.geocities.jp/hongkong_bird_nest/index_e.h tm . Tastes really good... yeah, I thought it was gross at first, but wow, you won't regret it.
