La Familia Restaurant (Baliuag, Bulacan)

We just had lunch at La Familia Restaurant in Baliuag, Bulacan. This restaurant was recently featured in the Inquirer so we decided to give it a try.

The La Familia Restaurant is located along the Dona Remedios Trinidad Highway in Baliuag. They are located just after the end of the overpass. It is a Turo-Turo Type of Restaurant. For the KareKare, we waited for 30 Minutes.



We ordered the adobong pusit, kaldereta, inihaw na bulik (?) And kare kare.

Adobong Pusit - the squid was very tender. Their version of this dish is on the sweet side, this must be how they cook it in Bulacan. Nonetheless, it was good for me.


Kalderetang Baka - beef was very tender. Their version probably uses more liver paste / spread than tomato sauce. Their Kaldereta is very good! The sauce alone is very good. Though a different kind from what I am used to, I like their version.


Inihaw na Bulik - I do not know if this is the correct name of the fish. The fish was grilled, garlic was sprinkled on top. The fish tasted fresh.


Kare Kare - this is another variant of kare kare. La Familia's KareKare was featured in the newspaper and rightfully so. Their Kare Kare has pumpkin as a variant. The sauce is very delicious. It has a distinct taste, which tastes like coconut. The meat used was so soft it easily seperates from the bone. This is a delicious dish that La Familia should be proud of.

Bacolod's Central Market (Bacolod, Negros Occidental)

I have been to Bacolod countless times already but it was only last March 10, 2011 that i got the chance to visit Bacolod's Central Market. From what i saw and remember what was written on the Marker of the Central Market, it was built in 1938 by a certain Don De La Rama.  The Central Market is located in the center of Bacolod and can entered from 4 streets, namely Gatuslao, Gonzaga, Luzuriaga and Bonifacio Streets. We went straight to the meat section of the Central Market to look for Longaniza (Chorizo is how they call it in Negros). The Longaniza we were looking for is the small one, we bought some Longaniza before in Talisay and it was very delicious and we were hoping that they would have it too in Bacolod.  We found a Longaniza stall in the Meat Section, it was being sold for P25.00 for a Dozen. Tita Lulu's Pancit Palabok (San Juan, Metro Manila)

If you are craving for Palabok and Tokwa't Baboy, the best place to go to is Tita Lulu's.  They serve delicious Palabok at Tita Lulu's (Located in front of PureGold Agora, inside the big parking lot). Always say you want the thin noodles when you order Palabok as it is better. The Tokwa't Baboy is equally delicious. Never forget to buy the palabok and tokwa't baboy together as they complement each other.
