Brasas-Latin American Street Food (SM Jazz, Makati)

Yesterday we tried a new restaurant located in SM Jazz, Makati City.



It was a Latin American Street Food Restaurant called Brasas. We ordered the following:

Carne Asada Platter which was Charcoal Grilled Sirloin with South American Slaw, Spanish Rice and Chimichurri (P280)



Puerco Asado which was Slow Roasted Pork Belly with Crunchy Skin, Tajadas, Rice & Beans plus South American Slaw (P310)



Carne Asada Fries was large cut fries with carne asada, chorizo beef chili, salsa de quezo and pico de gallo (Single P180)


I liked the Carne Asada Platter, the beef was very tender and it was already tasty that the Chimichurri wasnt needed anymore.

I also liked the Carne Asada Fries. the Puerco Asado i didnt like much though.

Bacolod's Central Market (Bacolod, Negros Occidental)

I have been to Bacolod countless times already but it was only last March 10, 2011 that i got the chance to visit Bacolod's Central Market. From what i saw and remember what was written on the Marker of the Central Market, it was built in 1938 by a certain Don De La Rama.  The Central Market is located in the center of Bacolod and can entered from 4 streets, namely Gatuslao, Gonzaga, Luzuriaga and Bonifacio Streets. We went straight to the meat section of the Central Market to look for Longaniza (Chorizo is how they call it in Negros). The Longaniza we were looking for is the small one, we bought some Longaniza before in Talisay and it was very delicious and we were hoping that they would have it too in Bacolod.  We found a Longaniza stall in the Meat Section, it was being sold for P25.00 for a Dozen. Gaston Mansion @ Hacienda Sta Rosalia, Manapla, Negros Occidental

The Gaston Mansion in Hacienda Sta Rosalia located in Manapla was used as the Mansion of the Lorenzo's and referred to as Hacienda Lorenzo in the 1980's Film, Oro Plata Mata. The Gaston Mansion is not as opulent and ostentatious as the other Ancestral Houses in Silay or Talisay Cities. The rooms are small compared to the other Mansions in Silay or Talisay. It definitely was a Countryhome for the Gaston's. --oo00oo-- Facade of the Gaston Mansion at Hacienda Sta Rosalia Eversince I saw this Mansion in Oro Plata Mata i was intrigued as to where this Mansion was. I was in luck as it was in the list of Tours Offered by Next Stop Negros. Price for the tours is P2000 a Person, this includes a Buffet Lunch inside the Mansion and served in the Dining Room of the Gastons. It is P1500 a person if you have your own transportation. D' Original Matutina's Seafood Restaurant (Dagupan, Pangasinan)

The first time I heard about Matutina's was a few years ago when it was mentioned in the Inquirer that it is a favorite Restaurant of Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Since it was a long drive just to sample their food I had a hard time adjusting an open schedule just to go all the way to Pangasinan.  This morning we were able to finally find time to go all the way to Dagupan, Pangasinan to sample Matutina's. The one we went to is the D'Original Matutina's in Tondaligan, Dagupan, Pangasinan. They have another branch in Urdaneta Also. There is a Matutina's in Tarlac City but i guess this is not connected with the Matutina's. We Ordered the following: Sizzling Bangus - This was just Delicious. The Bangus was Milky. Meat was just perfect.  Inihaw na Pusit - Grilled to perfection. The Squid was tender.
